Thank you for joining us on our adventure.
We are taking a break from our busy bush-veld lives and heading for the tropics. We aren’t tired, run down or frustrated – in fact we are in one of the best places in our lives and just looking to step out for a while and see what the world has to offer. It’s tough leaving Londolozi Game Reserve, a place that has given us so much and more, but it has prepared us for living a little on the unconventional side, and so we thought we would try something different.
We officially start on the 4th of May and the ‘loose’ plan is to head straight to Thailand. We fly to Phuket via Hong Kong and head straight to Krabi. Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, The Philippines and Indonesia all beckon, and recently Emma demanded a visit to the cherry blossoms in Kyoto. For now however, we are on the Kwazulu Natal South Coast, packing a few things before heading to Coffee Bay, Plettenberg Bay and George. The last two weeks of April will be spent in Cape Town, by which time the Rand will have backtracked all of its’ recent reverses against the dollar (not wishful thinking!)
There are over a million travel blogs on the web and they are a great place to find out about where, why and how much? This probably isn’t. Juststeppingout.com is a family travelogue, detailing the fun that we have as a family – together. The highs and lows of travelling with kids, the laughs, tears and arguments, how we pull together and grow.
Whether you have children and are looking to reminisce or have that crazy wild journey still ahead, follow us for some family introspective on compelling places and amusing stories from out there. You’ll also find some Asian cooking demos from budding junior Masterchef Emma and you can track Thomas’s adventures in the surf. if you are wondering what life in a game reserve has been like – there is some of that too.
Please feel free to get in touch, comment or make suggestions. See you out there!
